Director of Sales & Business Development

POSITION SUMMARY:

This executive level position is responsible for overseeing the successful management of the revenue-producing functions of the company. The Director of Sales and Business Development reports to the CEO and supervises our sales and grower support teams. This position interfaces with Fall Creek’s global customer base and franchisees. Domestic and international travel is required.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overseeing the successful management of the revenue-producing functions of the company which includes but is not limited to, product sales, consulting, IP revenue, and new business initiatives in domestic and international markets. Also includes the oversight of international licensees and franchisees.
  • Responsible for strategically planning, organizing, forecasting, and directing the company’s sales efforts. Ensures the successful execution of the annual marketing and sales plan. Develops and implements pricing strategies in all markets.
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Develops and recommends strategies to secure long-term market share. Identifies opportunities for increased product sales in new or existing geographies.
  • Develops and manages the department budgets on an annual basis and oversees monthly forecasting. Sets performance goals accordingly.
  • Collaborates department efforts with the production and inventory functions to ensure short and long term product availability for existing and new products.
  • Provides leadership to the day-to-day operations of the sales department, while maintaining focus on the Company’s strategic goals and Company culture. Establishes and implements short and long term departmental goals.
  • Coaches and develops managers and employees to improve job performance. Establishes and maintains good morale, motivation, and recognition of accomplishment in all employees.
  • Collaborates with the New Products Manager and marketing team on product launches and branding efforts.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING:

  • Typically requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural business management, international business, marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of agricultural sales and management experience (ag equipment, ag supply, produce) or international experience in a growing/expanding company or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a supervisory or management position in a sales environment with proven ability to manage, develop and mentor staff.
  • Experience with market and sales analysis, pricing, and program management.
  • Experience with sales in international operations.
  • Understanding of foreign cultures and knowledge of international travel. Willingness to travel internationally as well as domestically for up to 10 days per trip.
  • Demonstrated experience with planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel and Word, and familiarity with PowerPoint and databases.
  • Demonstrated track record of team work in a multicultural environment and ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to company values, and a commitment to personal and professional development.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience with new product launches or branding strategies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Basic understanding of intellectual property, licensing, and royalty administration.

Nursery Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the Tala facility and collaborating with the Fall Creek teams in the US to successfully produce brand compliant crops within the developed budget.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned) 

This position reports to the Operations Manager and directly supervises the office staff, Team Leader and other laborers performing work at the nursery. Collaborates with other departments and managers in the US operation. Coordinates services with outside vendors and other providers. 

 

JOB SETTING

Greenhouse nursery in Tala, Jalisco.  Domestic and international travel required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Manages all operations, including but not limited to plant production, crop maintenance, irrigation, order fulfillment, shipping, facilities (maintenance and construction), labor, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manages potting operations. This includes, but not limited to, obtaining materials needed for planting, laying out plants according to the plan and updating actual numbers planted to ensure targets are met. Implements the layout plan for each year’s crop.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Production on developing the annual department budget. Responsible for operating within the approved amounts. Actively manages expenses. Works with the accounting department on forecasting.
  • Ensures that complete and accurate orders are pulled, staged for shipping and loaded onto trucks accordance with Company standards.
  • Assists in the coordination of internal movement of product and materials between the US locations and Mexico nursery.
  • Responsible for supervising employees. This includes training, coaching, and developing employees in their positions. Conducts goal setting and performance reviews. Provides a safe and respectful workplace for all employees.
  • Assist the Research & Development department with oversight of the research program.
  • Assists in the planning of production trials as needed.
  • Primarily responsible for maintaining brand-compliant facilities. Collaborates with others in the design. Responsible for sourcing, and construction of new facilities including greenhouses other agricultural buildings and nursery production areas.
  • Responsible for coordinating the repair and/or overhaul of farm rolling stock such as tractors, ATVs, forklifts, and other motor-driven equipment.
  • Responsible for the timely set up and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Responsible for tracking labor hours for major functions. Oversees the collection of data for the primary cost accounting functions.
  • Oversees daily counts and plant inventory. Maintains inventory of all production supplies. Reports information to the inventory department in a timely manner.
  • Recommends, develops, implements, and supports continuous improvements in efficiencies, mechanization, innovation, and product quality.
  • Acts as a member of the team for setting growth strategies for the Tala facility.  Oversees the successful execution of the agreed upon strategy.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in agronomic engineering, or related field. 
  • Requires technical production knowledge, preferably in a greenhouse environment.
  • Requires 4+ years’ experience managing a facility or operation.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management position with proven ability to manage, develop and mentor staff.
  • Bilingual language skills in Spanish & English. The ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and expense management.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a valid license plus an acceptable (insurable) driving record. 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to details and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize work within established guidelines and follow through on a variety of requests.
  • Requires good judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, vendors, customers and peers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Gerente de Vivero

RESUMEN DE LA POSICIÓN

Esta posición es responsable de la administración de las instalaciones de Tala en colaboración con los equipos de Fall Creek en los EE.UU. para conseguir con éxito una producción dentro de las especificaciones  de la marca y dentro del presupuesto establecido.

 

RESPONSABILIDADES (Otras responsabilidades podrían ser asignadas)  

Esta posición reporta al Gerente de Operaciones y supervisa directamente el personal de la oficina, jefe de equipo y otros trabajadores que realicen trabajo en el vivero. Colabora con otros departamentos y gerentes en la operación de EE.UU. Coordina servicios con vendedores externos y otros proveedores. 

 

LUGAR DE TRABAJO

En Los viveros de Fall Creek en Tala, Jalisco.  Se requiere la disponibilidad de poder viajar tanto dentro como fuera del país.

 

RESPONSABILIDADES ESENCIALES (Otras responsabilidades podrían ser asignadas)         

  • Gestionar todas las operaciones, incluyendo pero no limitado únicamente a la producción de plantas, mantenimiento del cultivo, riego, cumplimiento de pedidos, envíos, instalaciones (mantenimiento y construcción), mano de obra, presupuestos y previsiones.
  • Gestionar las operaciones de cultivo en maceta. Esto incluye, pero no se limita a, la obtención de los materiales necesarios para la siembra, desplegar las plantas de acuerdo con el plan y la actualización de los números reales plantados para garantizar que los objetivos se cumplen. Desarrollar el plan de diseño de la cosecha de cada año.
  • Colaborar con el Director de Producción en la elaboración del presupuesto anual del departamento. Ser responsable de operar dentro de los montos aprobados. Gestionar activamente gastos. Trabajar con el departamento de contabilidad sobre las previsiones.
  • Asegurar que los pedidos completos y precisos son  preparados y dispuestos para el envío y cargados en camiones de acuerdo con las normas de la Compañía.
  • Asistir en la coordinación del movimiento interno de productos y materiales entre los viveros de Estados Unidos y México.
  • Ser responsable de la supervisión de los empleados. Esto incluye la capacitación, entrenamiento y desarrollo de los empleados en sus puestos. Llevar a cabo el establecimiento de objetivos y evaluaciones de desempeño. Proporcionar un lugar de trabajo seguro y respetuoso para todos los empleados.
  • Ayudar al departamento de Investigación y Desarrollo con la supervisión del programa de investigación.
  • Ayudar a la planificación de pruebas de producción cuando se requiera.
  • Principalmente es el responsable del mantenimiento de las instalaciones compatibles con la marca. Colabora con otros en el diseño. Responsable de la contratación y la construcción de nuevas instalaciones incluyendo invernaderos, otros edificios agrícolas y zonas de producción para el vivero.
  • Responsable de coordinar,la reparación y/o cambio del equipo rodante del vivero como tractores, vehículos todo terreno, montacargas y otros equipos motorizados.
  • Responsable de la preparación y mantenimiento a tiempo del equipo de producción.
  • Responsable de darle seguimiento a las horas laborales para las funciones más importantes. Supervisa la recolección de datos de las principales funciones de contabilidad para manejo de costes.
  • Supervisa recuentos diarios e inventario de las plantas. Mantiene el inventario de todos los suministros de producción. Provee informes e información al departamento de inventario de una manera oportuna y a tiempo.
  • Recomiendar, desarrollar, implementar y apoyar la mejora continua de la eficiencia, la mecanización, la innovación y la calidad del producto.
  • Actuar como un miembro del equipo para establecer estrategias de crecimiento para la instalación de Tala. Supervisar la ejecución exitosa de la estrategia acordada.

 

EDUCACIÓN REQUERIDA, CONOCIMIENTOs, HABILIDADES Y CAPACITACIÓN

  • Por lo general requiere un título de licenciatura o equivalente en Ingeniería Agrónoma, o un campo relacionado. 
  • Se requiere conocimiento técnico en producción, preferentemente en instalaciones de invernadero.
  • Se requieren  4+ años  de experiencia en la gestión de un vivero.
  • Un mínimo de experiencia de 2 años en un puesto de supervisión o de gestión con capacidad demostrada para gestionar, desarrollar y ser un mentor para el personal.
  • Habilidad lingüística bilingüe en Español e Inglés. La capacidad de hablar, leer y escribir en inglés.
  • Experiencia en análisis financiero, elaboración de presupuestos y gestión de gastos.
  • Buen conocimiento de programas de computación tales como  Word, Excel, y Outlook.
  • Se requiere una licencia para conducir valida así como la habilidad de mantener una licencia valida  más un expediente aceptable de conducción para propósitos de seguro. 
  • Fuertes habilidades organizativas con atención a los detalles y la precisión.
  • Capacidad para priorizar el trabajo dentro de las pautas establecidas y dar seguimiento a  una variedad de peticiones.
  • Se requiere buen juicio.
  • Fuertes habilidades interpersonales, como la capacidad de mantener relaciones de trabajo con otros empleados, supervisores, vendedores, clientes y compañeros.
  • Habilidades eficaces de comunicación verbal y escrita.
