Serving our commercial grower base located primarily in the Central Valley and Southern Coast.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is a member of the Grower Support Team™ and represents Fall Creek Farm and Nursery™ to the Company’s primary commercial grower customers. The Grower Support Representative will facilitate the sale of plants from the Nursery and will provide both off-site and in-the-field support in developing successful blueberry plantings. In addition, this position will assist Fall Creek’s™ Variety Development Division with on-site assistance and evaluation of new varieties at selected trial sites in the assigned territory.
JOB SETTING :
Fall Creek would prefer applicants willing to relocate to make base operations from the nursery in Oregon. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sales Department at the nursery. Additional support will be provided by the Variety Development Department. Estimated travel time to the territory ranges from 30%-40% primarily by commercial airline and rental vehicle.
Fall Creek will also consider independent consultants based off-site in specific growing regions in the territory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Will facilitate the sale of plants from the nursery and meet sales goals.
- Responsible for assisting customers in the territory with variety selection and ordering. Works closely with the Fall Creek™ sales team, coordinating availability with customer commitments.
- Responsible for on-farm assistance to key commercial customers. The on-farm assistance may include variety selection, site evaluation, pre-plant preparation, and post-plant cultural care.
- Provides off-site horticultural assistance through phone and email.
- Represents the Company at regional meetings and tradeshows.
- Provides assistance to the Variety Development Manager at the trial sites by coordinating plantings, providing assistance for cultural care, and variety evaluation.
- Plans and implements educational seminars for growers and customers in the assigned region.
- Responsible for scheduling and managing visits to the nursery from existing and prospective customers from the assigned growing region.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING
- A Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Crop Science or related field plus two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years experience in horticulture, agronomy, or related field.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a proven track record of building successful, professional relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Proven ability to work independently, organizing and executing work schedules efficiently and effectively.
- Strong written skills and experience in presentations and briefings.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word, and familiarity with Outlook.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills with demonstrated success implementing projects or programs.
- Has a positive and collaborative attitude. professional demeanor, and is self-motivated and achievement-oriented.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks where a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Is capable and willing to travel on single or multi-day trips approximately 30% to 40% of the work year.
- Is comfortable utilizing commercial air travel.
- Has a current driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- Assures the highest level of confidentiality on sensitive matters.
- Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to company values, and a commitment to personal and professional development.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Specific experience in blueberries or similar horticultural crop.
- Technical expertise in soil fertility, water chemistry and irrigation management, plant disease mechanisms, crop protection products and their on-farm use, or other basic agronomic practices.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Upon hire, this position will complete a thorough training process to learn Fall Creek™ production and administration practices as well as all aspects of blueberry production.
- This position requires an executed non-compete agreement.
