POSITION SUMMARY:

This position oversees the internal operations and contractual agreements involved in developing, growing, selling, and shipping Fall Creek™ products in the global commercial and nursery markets.

ORGANIZATIONAL FIT:
This position reports to the CEO and supervises the Production Manager, Facilities & Equipment Manager, Inside Sales Manager, Commercial Sales Manager, Research and Development Director and the Human Resource Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  1. Proposes and gains approval for the annual operating plan and capital expenditures.
  2. Provides management direction to the nursery’s operations to ensure profitable returns, maximum sales of quality products, and appropriate expenditures.
  3. Reviews activities, costs, operations and forecasted data to report progress toward stated goals.
  4. Works closely with the CEO and other members of management to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives.
  5. Identifies and addresses operational problems in a timely fashion.
  6. Plans for ongoing operational needs, including technology, facilities and equipment. Coordinates capital purchase requests with affected parties.
  7. Facilitates team development to improve operational efficiencies.
  8. Responsible for leading the management team to ensure cross departmental cooperation to meet annual goals
  9. Responsible for safety, training, and quality assurance programs.
  10. Manages labor costs and efficiencies.
  11. Supports, perpetuates and enhances Fall Creek’s™ core values and corporate culture. Coaches and develops department managers and key employees to improve job performance.
  12. Provides leadership by balancing people and production.
  13. Establishes and maintains good morale, motivation, and recognition of accomplishment in all employees.
  14. Attends conferences & events in order to meet clients & promote Fall Creek.
  15. Assures the highest level of confidentiality on sensitive matters concerning the nursery.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, business, or finance or equivalent experience and 5+ years management experience preferably in a nursery, agriculture or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires good judgment and the ability to positively influence team decision-making and operations.
  • Experience working with deadlines, especially during budgetary periods.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide spectrum of people.
  • Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to company values, and a commitment to personal and professional development.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in business administration, finance or related field.
  • Horticultural/plant science knowledge base.
  • Previous experience working in a rapidly growing company
